aka Denise Rojas Neecy has been involved in the arts her entire life learning the basics as a child from her dad. At the age of 15, she became a member of the Screen Actor's Guild as a professional actress doing national television commercials. By the age of 17, she developed her own company called Splatter Designs where she pioneered the art of hand painting on clothes. Some of her clients included Maas Brothers and Burdines. In 1990 and newly married, she pursued another business venture with her husband, Dan Rojas, which earned them the reputation of being two of the top photo restoration artists in the nation. Neecy returned to painting in 2005 after Hurricane Katrina devastated the Gulf Coast. Due to overwhelming frustration, anger, and sadness for all the Hurricane victims from New Orleans, she was drawn to expression. Her first painting, "Weeping Angel in New Orleans" reveals her sorrow for the lost city, culture, heritage, and the authentic roots that made New Orleans so special. "Although, the city may rebuild, the true New Orleans can never be duplicated." Neecy has a natural born talent of photo-realism, her painting style is based on realistic images transformed with meticulous detail paying close attention to lighting, shadows, and portraying her paintings in a 3D dimensional matter. Her skill enables her to blend artistic expression into the process creating true to life handpainted originals on canvas that it could easily be mistaken for a photograph. Denise's nickname is "Neecy" given to her by close friends and family. She feels such a connection with every work of art that she wants people to know her personally. Denise and her husband share their home in Tampa with 5 adorable dogs all of which were abandoned strays they personally rescued over the years. Artist statement "Art is an expression of one's soul."
