Betsy White

As a Florida native, I was surrounded by all things kitsch growing up. From an early age, I collected antiques and enjoyed looking for “thingumajigs” in my travels. Now, as the owner of a preschool, I have acquired the ability to again see through a child’s eyes. As an adult, I still enjoy traveling and interacting with people in the process. All the while looking for the “smaller” picture inside the big one.

In turn, my photographs explore my dual personality. On one side, my childlike interests are expressed in use of color and objects and on the other side, my adult fascination with people and places…. Capturing the moment.

My images are taken with a Canon 20D. I use the Cokin filter system attached to my camera to achieve a desired look in an individual photograph. After I choose the image that best meets “how I saw it”, the images are sent to a lab for developing on Kodak Metallic paper.
