GALE R. LEE
Gale Ruman Lee studied drawing and painting at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia, PA (1965 &Mac246; 1970).
In 1969, she was awarded the highly coveted Schiedt European Traveling Scholarship from PAFA, allowing her to study art, traveling extensively in Europe that summer. Gale graduated with a BFA in Fine Arts from the University of Pennsylvania in May of 1970. That same month, she was awarded the Gray Prize for Sill Life at the annual PAFA student show.
Gale earned a MA in Art Education from the University of South Florida in May of 1989 (FL certified in Art Ed. K-12).
After teaching Elementary Education and Art to grades Pre-K &Mac246; 8 for over 28 years, she retired in May of 2003.
Gale is married to fellow artist, Ki Whang Lee and they have raised 3 children who are now ages 15 - 35.
Finally having time to paint, her first "one woman show," featuring over 18 recent oil paintings, was held May 15 &Mac246; June 2, 2006 at USF&Mac226;s Centre Gallery.
